Sybill, tl;dv, and Fireflies – Which AI Notetaker Won Our Trust?
We share our journey of finding the right AI note-taking solution for our consulting work. After struggling with inconsistent meeting notes and different interpretations between team members, we tested three popular AI tools - Sybill, tl;dv, and Fireflies. When Adrian and I first started off low-key consulting, we were challenged with taking enough notes that were highlighted as very important to the client. We would cross-check back and forth with one another and notice that certain points were perceived differently due to our note-taking skills and interpretations, even when we were on the same call! This led us to thinking if there was an AI solution to this challenge, and not long after, a very social and friendly Heather Murray (shoutout to Heather!) shared on her LinkedIn feed how she discovered the AI-injected note-taking solution from Sybill.
I had to know more and asked her for a call. She, of course, well on boarded with Sybill, used the solution during our call and shared the advantages of the platform. I felt great afterwards, especially when she shared the results Sybill prepared from the call—the call duration, the share of speaker time, eye contact, and facial expressions. It was all so fancy, I was hooked right away and was about to pull out the credit card "take my money" plea.

But luckily, I was halted because Adrian tested other note-taking solutions and listed them out so I could conduct my own research. This is what I found, and it didn’t take long for me to move my attention away from Sybill (though still a very good solution, I am sure of it). Final Decision
After evaluating our needs and bananas, we chose Fireflies 🙌🏼. Its multilingual capabilities, post-meeting translation flexibility, and deep search functionality made it the best fit for our team. It balances affordability with advanced AI-powered insights, ensuring we capture and retrieve key meeting discussions efficiently.
